Fringes November 2023: Thou shalt not take revenge

We met today still in the grief and loss and anger and despair and fury and, and, and of the last month. In community, we prayed words of loss, of hope, of sorrow, and of connection. Our guest was Rabbi Linda Holtzman, sharing her experience with the large JVP protests in D.C. and in Philadelphia. She spoke about drawing hope from the power of the activists of many generations coming together.

As we moved into the service, we asked two things: What do you need to leave behind in order to enter into shabbat? and What do you need to hold close and carry into shabbat with you?

We listened to a short but deeply moving song from Abigail Bengson, “Despair is a Tool of Empire.” View it here.
